Lot details Registration No: MG 3564 Chassis No: NA0583 Mot Expiry: July 2005
Starting life as an N-Type, NA 0583 first left the MG works in 1934 fitted with the standard bodywork, though, today, is presented with even more sporting bodywork. For following re-bodying in 1979/80, it has become well known in marque circles as the `The Reg Miller N-Type'. Working from a Reg design, Len and Bernard Bull of Monza Engineering crafted new bodywork entirely in aluminium which brought the weight down from the 17¦ cwt of a standard car to under 15 cwt.
Thus equipped, Reg would think nothing of tackling the 400 miles round trip from his Essex home to compete at Wiscombe in Devon, where he would simply unbolt his lamps and cycle wings before taking to the hill climb course. The Miller MG passed into the present ownership some ten years ago.
Two and a half years ago, a completely new Bob Jones built engine was installed, incorporating new cylinder block, crank, rods and pistons, reworked cylinder head and modern oil filter. With only 500 miles driven since, the 1287cc six-cylinder motor is really only partially run-in. The original block, which is damaged, together with old rods, pistons and other components are included and can be collected from the South Midlands based vendor.
Brakes are Colvin Gunn K3 style and indicators were added last year. Painted dark blue and with black leather trim and matt black dashboard, said to be all good, this lovely pre-war MG comes with aeros screens as well as good hood and weather equipment.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
