Lot details Registration No: VJW877S Chassis No: CHN5463657 Mot Expiry: May 2006
When the MGB replaced the MGA in September 1962, the main changes were the use of a lower and wider unitary-construction shell rather than a separate chassis and body and a 1.8 four in place of the A's 1622cc motor.
This right-hand drive open B first left the Abingdon works in 1978. Unfortunately, what was claimed to have been a comprehensive history file, which included bills detailing work carried out as well as former MOTs verifying mileages, has been destroyed in a fire at the owner's premises. When entered for this sale, however, the odometer read 56,000 miles, which is claimed by the vendor to be the genuine total.
The wood-rim wheel and alloys are claimed to be in good condition as are monocoque and body panels, Havana Brown paintwork and fawn cloth interior. 1.8-litre engine, four-speed manual gearbox and electrical equipment are reportedly all in good order too.
Unlike many other classics, and thanks to plenty of marque and model specialists not to mention two very active MG clubs, everything you may need to keep a B going is available off the shelf with parts and services also likely to be reasonably priced.
PLEASE NOTE: This car comes with a new MOT and tax.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
