If you fancy doing some road rallying, or are seeking the basis for a full house Post Historic Special Stage Escort, then this 1969-manufactured Escort GT, a right-hand drive two-door saloon, could be for you.
Built up and restored from an original standard 1300GT to period `Road Rally' specification, it is well equipped with Bilstein suspension, turreted rear end with vertically mounted rear shock absorbers, ventilated disc brakes at the front with servo-assistance, and quick turn steering rack. During renovation, the bodyshell has been strengthened in the wise and usual places.
Since the build, which according to the vendor was only some 2000 miles ago, the 1300cc four-cylinder engine, fed by twin 40 Webers, has only completed one historic road event. Whilst inside are Ford works-style bucket seats with authentic twin-pod dash, period-correct Springalex steering wheel and road rally regs compliant Belmog twin tripmeter.
Current condition of red painted shell and black vinyl interior is described by the owner as excellent. Engine, four-speed manual gearbox and electrical items are reportedly also in excellent order. We understand that, by sale day, the MOT will have been renewed for twelve months.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
