The T Series of MG Midgets commenced with the 1292cc TA, launched pre-WW2 in 1936, the long run of successful models ending when the final TF was produced in 1956. The T Types set the fashion for British sports-cars to enjoy worldwide cult status immediately pre-war and in the post-war years. Indeed, it was the T Types, which really put the marque on the map with MG Car Clubs attracting members in almost every sporting car buying country. Ever since, owners have gathered in large numbers at rallies and successfully compete in most forms of motor sport.
Announced in October 1945, the TC was based on the TB, a short-lived pre-war model powered by the same 1250cc XPAG motor. With open 2-seater bodywork widened by 4ins and improved suspension incorporating Luvax-Girling hydraulic shockers, the new TC had a 78mph top speed. US servicemen snapping up many of the 10,000 that left the MG Car Company Abingdon works before production ceased at the end of 1949.
