In order to reassert Honda's threatened position as the premier four stroke motorcycle manufacturer development commenced on a new "supersport" machine during the mid seventies, using their Grand Prix experience to produce the CBX. The new model stunned the motorcycling world when released in 1978. The double overhead cam six cylinder engine displacing 1047cc delivered 105bhp at 9,000 rpm resulting in a top speed just shy of 140 mph when tested. The power plant was housed in a tubular spine frame equipped with FVQ dampers at the rear and 35mm diameter front forks. Testers commented on the turbine like smoothness of the engine, it's fantastic exhaust note and exceptional performance.
The example offered has recently been imported from the United States having formed part of private collection. Offered with a UK Swansea V5C, an Mot certificate and tax, it displays a recorded mileage just under 23,000 miles and is described as being in good original condition throughout.
