Introduced in 1964, the Sunbeam Alpine Series IV retained the same basic platform and mechanicals as its predecessors but sported revised, more up-to-date styling (the most noticeable change being the adoption of subtler tailfins)
The Sunbeam Alpine was launched by the Rootes family owned Coventry firm in 1959. Of unitary construction and employing the rugged Hillman Husky estate floor pan with cross-bracing and, initially, with 1492cc Rapier engine and transmission, as well as fashionable rear fins to cater for the US market, the original Alpine was progressively uprated through five models, culminating in the 1725cc MkV of 1965-68, by when 58,091 had been made.
The 1968-manufactured Alpine on offer, has a 1.6-litre engine and 4-speed manual gearbox with desirable overdrive.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
