Lot details Registration No: CPK 830 Chassis No: 7689 Mot Expiry: Aug 2004
Morris Motors owner William Morris, who is generally recognised by motoring historians as the man who put Britain on wheels and who was later to become the enobled Lord Nuffield, progressively bought most of his component suppliers, adding rivals Wolseley to his portfolio in 1927.
Being auctioned here is a charming prewar Morris, a Isis Six Special Sports made in Cowley in1934 and one of less than a handful known to have survived with this type of fixed head coupe body. Said to have undergone a total restoration during the early 1990s, which included retrimming the interior with top quality hide, it is presented today in seemingly beautiful condition.
The detail on this prewar classic is splendid to behold, check out the wooden ribbed fuel tank and the mirror-finish chassis. Unusually, the sliding sunroof is still functioning and, though an original prewar radio is fitted, this is not currently functioning. Happily, too, the original CPK 830 registration has been retained, whilst an original handbook and rare workshop manual are included.
One of Morris Motors flagship motor cars, and seldom seen today, the car has recently been in receipt of a major service with dynamo and regulator rebuilt and brakes overhauled. The entrant rates the current condition of chassis, fixed head bodywork, dove grey over black paintwork, dark blue hide interior, 2468cc 6-cylinder motor and 4-speed manual gearbox as being excellent. The MOT is current until August.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
