Honda introduced their new RS 250 V twin two stroke racing motorcycle in 1984. The new model had been developed in conjunction with the road going NS 250 which aided the speed of development and helped reduce costs for the project. A similar approach had been used by Yamaha in the early sixties with the development of the TD series in conjunction with the YDS range. The new production racer used a 90 degree vee twin with dimensions of 56 x 50.6mm to give a displacement of 248cc housed in a square section alloy frame. Honda's ATAC system, first seen on the NS500 triple was employed and the machine breathed through 34mm Keihin carburrettors. The new model was claimed to deliver 66bhp at 11,500 rpm and weigh 100kg dry, figures that promised much for the coming season.
The new model was expensive and was only available in limited numbers with the machines being made available to "favoured" riders, as a consequence the first 250 two stroke vee twin racer to be produced is extremely rare today and sought after by collectors.
This example is described by the vendor as being in good condition in all respects and is offered with the following hard to find parts:
A set of new crankcases
Three crankshafts in as new or possibly new condition
Two new pistons
One new and one used water pump
Two new and two used barrels

A new reed block
