Lot 33 - 1980 Bentley T2 LWB

1980 Bentley T2 LWB

Lot details
Registration No: GYY400W
Chassis No: LBH0039200
Mot Expiry: Sept 2006

Launched in 1965, the Bentley T1 was a bold departure for the Crewe concern. Their first monocoque design, it also benefited from olio-pneumatic rear suspension, power disc brakes and GM's smooth 400 series automatic gearbox. A beguiling mix of sumptuous leather hides, rich wood veneers and deep lambswool carpets, its luxurious interior was rarely disturbed by the effortlessly potent V8 engine (in either original 6,230cc or later 6,750cc guise). Introduced in 1977, the updated T2 boasted a more ergonomic fascia, revised front suspension geometry and power assisted rack and pinion steering. Undoubtedly better to drive, its new split level climate-control system was well received too. Among the scarcest of all post WW2 Bentleys, a mere ten of the 568 T2s built were reputedly to long wheelbase specification.
According to information supplied to the vendor by the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts Club, this particular example is thought to be one of only three Bentley T2 LWB cars to have been factory fitted with an electric division, separate Blaupunkt stereo and independent rear air-conditioning. Finished in Oxford Blue with light blue leather upholstery, it is said to "come with full service history, factory build sheets and numerous bills". Believed but not warranted to have covered just 63,200 miles from new, the last thousand of those have apparently seen the car receive "a full suspension and brake overhaul". Riding on the correct Corniche-style wheel trims, this exceptionally rare Bentley is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until August 2006 and road tax until 30th September 2005.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
