Based on the BMW E36 328, the B3 Alpina was manufactured from April 1996 until 1997. Extending the BMW 2.8, six-cylinder engine to 3.2 litres, the engines further enhancements included lightweight pistons, improved cooling, improved breathing and bespoke exhausts, bringing the power of this engine up to an impressive 265 BHP. The B3 Switch-tronic’s were fitted with gearbox and software enhancements, most notable additions are steering buttons which allow control of the gear changes or the option to leave in automatic mode. Gearbox temperature and gear selected indicators were added to the dashboard.
The B3 3.2 was well-specified from new with ABS; automatic stability and traction control; external temperature display; central locking with immobiliser; interior light package; power steering; Sony 10-CD autochanger; two-stage heated seats; Alpina leather upholstery and steering wheel trimming; and dashboard plaque. Utilising Bilstein suspension all round, Alpina lightweight 17-inch alloys, and Alpina interior and bodywork design features the Alpina provided increased styling with notable performance enhancement.
Manufactured in 1997, the Alpina was supplied new to the UK, being first registered in September that year. Finished in the very rare colour of Glacier Green with Green leather Alpina Sports Seats and interior trim, with scarce Alpina badge inserts. Having covered a total of 83,266 miles (atoc) from new, the BMW has a total of nine former keepers.
The Alpina has benefitted from a full-respray; new suspension, brakes and discs; refurbished wheels and leather treatment, all in the last four years. Supplied with the original Service Book with 11 entries in total, including one Pre-Inspection from the Alpina factory and nine BMW dealer stamps. Accompanied by the Service Guide, Owners Handbook and BMW wallet, as well as several past MOTs and invoices. Supplied with a collection of past service and work invoices, a small number of previous MOT certificates and current V5C. Supplied with a hard-top finished in Glacier Green.
Surely one for the BMW collectors in such a rare colour scheme.
