1999 Plymouth Prowler

Lot details
Registration No: T989WPA
Chassis No: 1P3EU6569XV500040
Mot Expiry: Dec 2007

One of a number of exciting Chrysler concept cars which have actually made production, the Plymouth Prowler, with its open front wheels under cycle type front wings, is undoubtedly one of the most outlandish. First shown in 1993 as a show stopper at the Detroit motor show when Chrysler designers were given free reign to create a 'hot rod' type car, series production commenced in 1997 as a rear-wheel drive roadster powered by the 253 bhp 3.5 litre V6 engine from the LH-Series cars with rear mounted 4-speed automatic transmission. Featuring some sophisticated construction techniques such as extensive use of aluminium in the chassis and adhesive bonding of many components, the Prowler was available only in purple for the 1997 year but with a wide choice of colours thereafter. A total of 11,702 Prowlers were built before production ceased in 2002, the model being badged as a Chrysler for the last year after the Plymouth marque was discontinued. Amongst a number of unusual options with which owners could individualise their Prowler's was a Prowler Trailer which was designed to resemble the back end of the car with identical style wheels and matching paint!

Badged as a Plymouth, the 1999 car for sale here is finished in purple with a grey leather interior and shows a total mileage of 11,000, a figure warranted to be correct by a full Chrysler service history. Having had one registered owner from new, we are told this left hand drive car was imported into the UK before use and is "factory original and full loaded" with "AC multi CD sound system, cruise and much more". Described by the vendor as being "superb" with regard to its engine, electrics, paintwork, bodywork, transmission, interior, chassis and wheels/tyres, and as having "stunning looks and performance", this "ultimate attention grabbing machine" is very rare on UK roads. Bound to turn heads wherever it goes, the car is MOT'd until December 2007.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
