Lot details Registration No: 115 FGD Chassis No: AM122A585 Mot Expiry: Oct 2014
Essentially a junior version of the V8-engined Bora, the Giugiaro-designed Merak differed in having V6 power (shared with the Citröen SM), and flying buttresses in place of the Bora's glassed-in rear quarters. The most potent version, the SS, boasted some 217bhp - sufficient for a 0-60mph time of 7.6 seconds and 145mph top speed. This very handsome right-hand drive, 'matching numbers' Merak SS has had not one but two titled owners; the first of whom was Sir John Arnold Clark, who is understood to have thoroughly enjoyed the car. '115 FGD' is finished in Silver and trimmed in Black hide and the vendor informs us that the indicated mileage of just 47,000 kilometres is "correct and well documented". He currently regards the bodywork, paintwork, quad-cam engine and five-speed manual gearbox as "excellent". The only noted fault concerns the driver's seat stitching. Surely among the best Italian supercars and arguably undervalued in today's market.
