The Birmingham concern Carfield Ltd. were in production during the boom years following the end of the First World War until 1924, concentrating on high quality lightweight motorcycles fitted with Villiers engines.
This machine, which utilises a 1 1/2hp Villiers engine and two speed Albion gearbox was restored by the vendor during 2006 and is described by him as being in good condition in all respects. The "Baby" was marketed by Carfield as being "A real motor cycle" in their contemporary advertising. Emphasis was placed on the two speed gearbox and clutch, with an option of a kickstart for an additional two pounds over the thirty pound asking price of the standard model, features that were not common on lightweight machines of the time and which makes the "Baby" a desirable machine for those seeking a lightweight vintage motorcycle today. It is offered with current MOT certificate and valid road fund licence.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
