This machine is built around an engine from six times World Champion Ivan Mauger OBE MBE 1974 allocation although it was not used by him until the 1976 British League season. The centre frame is not the originally due to the frequent changes that he made. It was used during the 1976 season both in the League and as a test engine for World Championship meetings as a comparison to the 892 Long Track engine.
When the DOHC four valve unit became available, rendering this engine obsolete it was sold in New Zealand for use in formula 500 car racing. Re-acquired by Ivan Mauger in 1980, the engine and frame resided in his workshop in New Zealand until 2000 when it was moved to his home in the Gold Coast and restoration commenced.
Work was carried out during 2001 with the machine being finished in time to be brought to England on the 8th March 2002.
The motorcycle is offered with a letter from Ivan Mauger confirming its authenticity.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
