Triumph's TR Series began with the unveiling of a prototype (the TR1) at the 1952 London Motorshow. The TR2 was launched the following year, and so began a series of two-seater sports cars that ended in 1981 with the last of the TR8s. The evolution was steady but continuous and the TR6 unveiled in 1968 was effectively a cleverly updated TR5; the body revisions for which were penned not by the TR5's Italian designer, Michelotti, but the team at Karmann, Germany. The car's underpinnings were broadly as per the TR5 and a total of 94,619 TR6s were produced, a mere 8,370 of which were sold on the home market.
This 1973 example is a time warp, one owner example that has just been unearthed from many years of dry storage. The Triumph is in such remarkable, original condition it apparently looks as though it could be driven to Scotland and back tomorrow, but will in fact require a degree of recommissioning and a new MOT before taking to the roads once more. Equipped with the desirable manual/overdrive gearbox, and even its original Radiomobile Stereo 8 player and selection of tapes, this unmolested classic is being offered complete with service wallet, original handbooks and its last MOT (1992). A rare opportunity for serious TR6 collectors everywhere.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
