Being auctioned here is a 1975-built and right-hand drive Volkswagen with convertible bodywork by famous German coachbuilders Karmann, which is so highly rated by Beetle fans. The current owner acquired his open VW from a leading Northern classic cars dealer two years ago, since when, he says, it has been a trouble-free performer. Fitted are such period extras as front and rear spoilers, both rare items these days, as are the ATS alloy wheels beneath aluminium wheelarch protectors. A radio cassette is also included. We understand that partial history in the documents file will include former MOTs.
The bodyshell, above and below, as well as the yellow paintwork, the alloys, the black PVC trim and the mohair hood are all said by the vendor to be in very good condition. The air-cooled 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, which can run satisfactorily on unleaded fuel, the four-speed manual gearbox and the electrical equipment are reportedly also in very good order. Although 19,332 miles were displayed on the odometer when entered for the sale, the vendor believes that the overall total mileage for this car from new is likely to have been 119,332.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
