The MKII MGB of 1967 brought an updated manual gearbox with revised ratios and synchromesh on all gears, as well as the option of an automatic unit. Other changes included a revised rear axle and a switch from dynamos to alternators. By the time Roadster production ceased in October 1980, 399,070 examples had been produced.
This 1971 MGB Roadster is finished in the attractive combination of Teal Blue bodywork and Tan vinyl interior. Since 2010 it has been successfully operated by the UK's largest classic car hire company, who purchased it from a deceased estate. The B's history file apparently confirms that a fair degree of restoration work was carried out in the late '90s, and probably included upgrades to the engine; 'XOJ 815J' being substantially faster than comparable MGBs. Otherwise the MG remains standard aside of a wood veneer dashboard conversion and a set of Minilite-style alloy wheels, while recent remedial work has been confined to some localised welding. As per the hire company's normal regime, the B has been serviced every 3,000 miles, and a new hood was fitted less than 12 months ago. The subject of much positive customer feedback and the star of several advertising campaigns, 'XOJ 815J' is now available for sale complete with an MOT into May 2013.
