Introduced in 1985, the new generation Honda RS 250 took the racing world by storm. A cutting-edge design, its twin spar aluminium chassis frame (complete with swinging arm rear suspension) endowed it with superb cornering poise. Powered by a sophisticated two-stroke V-twin that featured reed valve technology and developed 70bhp 'out-the-box', it proved comfortably faster than rivals such as the Yamaha TZ250N. Subject to a programme of continual development, today's version boasts over 90bhp giving a power to weight ratio of 900bhp per ton!
According to information supplied by the vendor, this particular example was bought direct from Japan in 1993. Subsequently campaigned by Team Sacchi Corse in the Italian National Championship, its low-drag cowling is still bedecked in their colours. Although, the engine is reputed to have been fitted with special HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) Stage 2 and 3 factory parts in the past, its current state of tune is unknown. Sold strictly as seen, this exciting Honda has potential as a club racer / extravagant 'track day' bike.
