Lot details Registration No: BWG 640 Chassis No: TRA112 Mot Expiry: Exempt
The Triumph 2000 Roadster shared the same flamboyant styling as its Frank Callaby-penned predecessor, the 1800 of 1946. Based around a near identical ladder-frame chassis, the newcomer benefited from the adoption of a more refined hypoid-bevel rear axle while, being considerably torquier than the unit it replaced, the new 2,088cc OHV four-cylinder engine made for an altogether more relaxed drive. Still bodied in 'Birmabright' alloy over an ash frame, the 2000 used more panel bracing than the 1800 and thus had a tauter feel. The 2000 on offer was owned by Brian Johnson, the lead singer of the rock band AC/DC and his Top Gear interview with Jeremy Clarkson can still be viewed - Series 13/Episode 6. Apparently he also refers to the Triumph in his autobiography 'Rockers and Rollers'. Nicely presented, 'BWG 640' is finished in pale Metallic Blue and trimmed in Red, and is said by the vendor to be 'in fine running order'.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
