Lot details Registration No: DS 9252 Chassis No: 2V91442 Mot Expiry: Aug 2005
The Chevrolet marque came about when GM founder William C Durant set-up the Little Motor Co in Flint, Michigan, in 1910 to make cheap automobiles, which could return quick money, and larger models which he branded Chevrolet after US race driver Louis Chevrolet.
Being auctioned here is a Superior Fordor, a righthand drive sedan-taxicab, which first left the Chevrolet works in 1926. When imported, this was reportedly a clean example, most probably painted green. Subsequently, it was renovated to a high standard and painted yellow over black.
In recent times, DS 9252 has been well preserved in dry storage conditions with Chevvy maintenance carried out on a regular basis and known to be beneficial improvements made (check out the history file for details). Said to be a starter every time, several wedding and concours outings were completed without problems. This well engineered American is claimed still to be largely original.
Chassis, bodywork and paintwork as well as beige cloth interior are described as being in excellent condition. 2500cc four-cylinder motor and three-speed manual gearbox are reportedly in excellent order and electrical equipment working correctly. Although the odometer is not currently working, the 46,350 miles displayed when entered for this sale is believed to be near to the genuine total mileage clocked up by the vehicle from new. The MOT has been successfully renewed recently, so the current certificate will not need renewing until next August.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
