Lot details Registration No: PVL228V Chassis No: 11602822054101 Mot Expiry: None
Introduced in 1972, the W116 was flagship of the contemporary Mercedes-Benz range. A true super saloon it offered unparalleled levels of safety, interior space, handling, performance and ride. Equipped with all round independent suspension (McPherson strut front, semi-trailing arm rear), disc brakes and power assisted steering, engine sizes varied from a modest 2.8 litre straight six to an extravagant 6.9 litre V8. Though, for many the pick of the range was the 350 SE model. Reputedly capable of over 120mph thanks to its potent 3499cc V8 unit, it was notably less nose heavy / thirsty than the Wagnerian 6.9.
Finished in white with blue / grey cloth upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "good overall" condition with regard to its engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Reportedly "a one owner car" that was used for "Sundays and high days", 'PVL 228V' is further understood to have covered just 82,000 miles from new. Apparently ousted by the arrival of a new Range Rover, the 350 SE is said to possess "total history, twenty old MOTs, all manuals, spare keys and tools etc". An inexpensive entry to the world of luxury classic motoring, this imposing Mercedes is offered for sale entirely without reserve.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
