Lot details Registration No: T.B.A. Chassis No: T.B.A. Mot Expiry: Sept 2004
This Jaguar S Type, a 1966 righthand drive four-door, was acquired by the current owner in 1992 in showroom condition. The car was then driven to Classic Car events organised by the Jaguar Drivers Club of Australia of which the owner has been a member for the last fourteen years. Taking advantage of Australia's Seasonal Registration, the sports saloon has only been exposed to wear and tear on the roads in spring and summer. The registration is therefore Australian, although the vendor tells us that UKduties will have been paid by sale day, so re-registering the car here should be straightforward.
Previous owner Anthony Ford, a commercial pilot, had the car restored professionally, the bodyshell stripped and sanded with any rust eliminated and three coats of paint applied. The work is detailed in paperwork included within the documents file included with the car. Carpets, upholstery and many other items for the interior were sourced in England by Mr Ford during his many flights to this side of the world, while mechanical refurbishment, which included overhauling the 3.4-litre engine, was entrusted to Jaguar and English car specialists in Australia.
During the last twelve years, the car has always been looked after by Car Craf Services of Mouth Baker, South Australia, specialists who have much experience in restoring such greats as the Jaguar SS100 as well as classics from the Bentley, Morgan, Hispano Suiza and Bugatti marques.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
