Introduced in 1986, the E32 7-Series was flagship of the contemporary BMW range. A technological tour de force, its ultimate incarnations famously had more computing power at their disposal than NASA used when it guided Apollo 11 to the moon. Boasting a 0.32 drag co-efficient, the E32 was built around a four-door monocoque bodyshell equipped with all round coil-sprung suspension, vented disc brakes and power assisted steering. Initially available with either 3.0 litre or 3.5 litre straight-six engines, the arrival of the marque's first ever V12 powerplant in 1987 allowed the E32 to be considered for the title of 'best car in the world'. A wonderfully sophisticated 4988cc unit that developed some 295bhp and 332lbft of torque, it was mated to four-speed automatic transmission and endowed the 750i with the ability to canter from 0-60mph in 7.4 seconds and onto 155mph.
Finished in metallic black with stone leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in either 'A1' (engine, transmission, electrical equipment, interior trim) or excellent (chassis, bodywork, paintwork, wheels / tyres) condition. Said to have had only "two owners" and to benefit from "full BMW history", its odometer currently shows some 121,693 miles. Reputedly treated to a "major service (£750) and four TRX tyres (£846)" 5,000 miles ago, it has apparently covered just 460 of those since its last MOT certificate was issued on 18th December 2004 (expires 17th December 2005). Offered for sale entirely without reserve due to emigration.
PLEASE NOTE: This car is not subject to VAT on the hammer price, as described in the catalogue.
