Lot details Registration No: FGU961V Chassis No: VA30959DL0 Mot Expiry: April 2010
H&H are indebted to the vendor for the following description: "FGU 961V was first registered on September 1st 1979 and is one of 22,941 Dolomite Sprints built up until August 1980. Initially a company car, the Triumph was supplied by Lex Mead Motor Co at Bexley Heath, at the `On the Road' cost of £6609.08, since the driver specified a Sharp RG 5850 radio/cassette tape player and two door speakers, front and rear fog lamps, mats front and rear, a near side door mirror, as well as the Ziebart treatment. The car was then bought by its company driver Frank Webster on 26th November 1984 at approx 25,000 miles, who continued to own it for another 18 years, until it was passed on to his son Paul on 30th December 2002, when the mileage was still only 32,757 approx. It is not known if the car was taxed in 2003 for it was SORN from 1st September 2003. After three and a half years it was sold to a colleague / guardian Paul Banton on 30th May 2006. A new MOT certificate was issued on 10th June 2006, which showed that the car had covered 160 miles since the previous MOT certificate on 6th September 2002. It was then taken off the road again and subject to SORN from end November 2006 to 1st May 2007 and again 1st September 2007 to 1st April 2008. A new six month road tax (VED) was issued 1st April 2008. New front brakes were also fitted between 10/6/06 and 17/4/08. The present owner purchased the car on 28th July 2008 when the mileage was 33,110. Between 1st September 2008 and 13th March 2009 much mechanical restorative work and re-commissioning was undertaken by the Haynes International Motor Museum Workshops, in several stages, which included updated radiator, new clutch, rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, new oil pump, HT leads, front and rear propshaft U/Js, SU carburettor needles, water pump gasket, radiator hoses and stainless steel exhaust etc (see workshop job sheets attached) plus new Dunlop SP Sport 200 tyres H rated, on new wheels. It is apparent that this has been an exceptionally, even fastidiously, well maintained original example, having now covered 33,750 miles. The document file contains the Lex new car invoice No 6295, the Ziebart guarantee dated 31st August 1979, all MOTs since 31 August 1982 and comprehensive Service Records. It has currently, VED / road tax until 31st March 2010 and an MOT until 16th April 2010. Spares include 4 original alloy wheels and a workshop manual".
