Frederick Richard Simms' British Motor Syndicate set-up workshop for the Daimler Motor Company to make cars at Foleshill, Coventry, in 1896. Since then, the marque has been owned by BSA, Jaguar, BLMC and, today as a dormant Jag brand, by the Ford Motor Company.
This 1955-built Conquest has only had four previous owners, there being the original buff logbook and factory-supplied service manual as well as a decade's worth of old MOTs in the vehicle's history file. With the righthand drive saloon coachwork finished in striking red and silver and the claimed still to be original red leather interior piped in grey, this handbuilt motor car is described by the current owner as being in excellent all-round condition.
The 2433cc 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed gearbox are reportedly in excellent order too. Indeed, thanks to this torquey straight six and the pre-selector box, the Daimler provides a laid-back driving experience, which should be perfect for Classic Tours. The 79,014 miles displayed when entered is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total mileage.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
