This Derbyshire Rover SD1 - a 1976-built, righthand drive and gold-painted 3.5-litre V8 engined saloon with 3-speed automatic transmission - was acquired by Rover enthusiast and SD1 Club historian William Draper of Belper from a local garage and fully rebuilt. Following completion of this refurbishment, which is said to have been very extensive and to have cost some £20,000, the vehicle then was only used as a marque and model promotional vehicle at classic car shows. Indeed, since restoration, reportedly this car has never been subjected to cosmetic or mechanical wear on the public roads, hence it is not currently taxed or MOTd.
The current condition of bodywork, interior and mechanical items, however, are described by the vendor as being excellent, whilst the 45,086 miles displayed when entered for this sale is believed by him to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new. The SD1 V8 has been seriously underrated in recent years and the auctioning of this one provides collectors with an opportunity to acquire an exceptional example.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
