Lot 21 (The Pavilion Gardens, 31st October 2012)
Registration No: 84 GDA
Chassis No: 166553DN
Mot Expiry: April 2013
The attention to detail and build quality of the MKII were remarkable for the asking price. A period road test of the 3.4 version resulted in a 0-60mph time of 11.9 seconds and a top speed of a whisker under 120mph. Production of the model ran from 1959 to 1967, at which point the 3.8-litre engine option was dropped and the remaining offerings renamed 240 and 340 respectively. 91,210 MKIIs, 240s and 340s were produced all told.
This nicely-presented MKII 3.4 features manual/overdrive transmission and is finished in the classic combination of Old English White with Red leather upholstery. It has had just four owners to date, the third one of which retained the Jaguar from 1985 to 2003. The saloon has reportedly been well maintained over the years, with supporting invoices dating back to 1987. '84 GDA' has evidently never required a full restoration and is understood to remain remarkably original apart from such desirable upgrades as: a stainless steel exhaust system, Moto-Lita steering wheel, Kenlowe fan, Ace wheel rim embellishers, battery condition meter, hazard warning lights and Coombs-style louvred bonnet (the original engine cover comes with the car). The MKII is offered for sale with a tool box, full file of documents and MOT valid into April 2013. The indicated mileage is c.101,100.
PLEASE NOTE: The bonnet currently fitted to this vehicle is not a Coombs as stated in the catalogue description, but a non standard vented bonnet and the original is available by separate negotiation.
