Lot details Registration No: ASL 180 Chassis No: HDB263614 Mot Expiry: Sept 2013
Though visually similar to the earlier T Series models, the TD was built around a more modern chassis derived from that of the Y-Type Saloon. The MKII version which was produced alongside the standard car featured a range of optional upgrades including: an engine of 8.0:1 compression ratio giving 57bhp, twin fuel pumps, revised dampers, higher final drive ratio etc, and it was this specification on which the TF of 1953 was based. Now highly sought after, the TF was in fact an interim model pending the arrival of the MGA - its fared-in headlights and sloping radiator grille ensuring more modern looks than its predecessors. Some 9,600 examples were produced.
The TF 1250 on offer is a 1954 right-hand drive export model that spent much of its early life in Switzerland. It was restored by Marksdanes before being acquired by the vendor in 1991. A well cared for, recently serviced example, it is only being sold due to the reorganisation of his private collection. He describes the bodywork, White paintwork, Burgundy leather trim and XPAG engine as "very good", and the gearbox as "all fine". `ASL 180' comes complete with: stainless steel exhaust system; full weather gear; history file containing assorted bills, old tax discs and MOTs (11), and one valid into September 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
