Lot details Registration No: E776XKH Chassis No: WP0ZZZ91ZJS140916 Mot Expiry: Aug 2013
Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 1984 model year 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the 1983 Frankfurt Motorshow. Its 3164cc flat-six engine developed 231bhp, allowing a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds and 153mph top speed. The brakes were enlarged and the top two gear ratios raised, while post 1987 examples also benefited from the stronger G50 gearbox. An optional Sport derivative became available during 1984 - in the vein of the 930 Turbo, it featured wider wheelarches, spoilers at either end, stiffer damping, and wider black-centred wheels shod with low profile tyres. Galvanised bodies meant rusting was now largely a thing of the past.
Finished in White with Dark Blue/Red leather upholstery, this particular Targa example is described by the vendor as being in "excellent" condition with regard to its engine, G50 gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, bodywork and paintwork. He further informs us that 'E776 XKH' possesses "a full service history (23 stamps in the service book)", complete toolkit, original 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels shod with Pirelli rubber all-round, and MOT into August 2013. The engine oil return pipes have just been renewed and the last service took place at 77,655 miles - just over 200 miles ago. A reportedly great example that can surely only rise in value.
