Lot details Registration No: VNU742N Chassis No: GHD5343775G Mot Expiry: June 2005
The MGA replacing MGB employed a lower and wider steel monocoque bodyshell rather than a separate chassis and body, and a larger 1798cc four-cylinder engine in place of the A's 1622cc motor. From 1969, a revised B came to market with different radiator grille, more driver-friendly all-synchromesh gearbox with auto option and either wires or easier to clean Rostyle steel wheels.
Offered here is a 1974-manufactured MGB GT, a right-hand drive three-door, which is claimed by the vendor to be a very good example of a chrome-bumper GT with good history file containing paperwork and photos.
In Harvest Gold with black cloth interior and model-correct wheels, paintwork and interior are said to be in very good condition as is the fixed head coupe bodywork. The 1.8-litre four-cylinder motor is also reportedly in very good order as are four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive and electrical equipment. The 23,760 mileage displayed when entered is believed to be the genuine total for the car from new. A B GT, like this, is not only highly affordable, but is a completely practical proposition to own and, more importantly, to use and enjoy on an everyday basis too.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
