Lot details Registration No: BEG928J Chassis No: 1S50006BW Mot Expiry: Sept 2013
The last E-Type rolled off the Brown's Lane production line in 1974, yet the model still has a unique ability to excite enthusiasts of all generations; its Malcolm Sayer-penned lines thought by many to be among the most striking ever to adorn a motorcar. The so called Series 3 examples were introduced in 1971, virtually all of which were fitted with Jaguar's new super-smooth 5.3-litre V12 engine. The model's original wheelbase was discontinued and the revised E-Type offered only as a Roadster or 2+2 Coupe. Production continued until the model was superseded by the very different XJS, by which time some 15,287 V12-engined cars had been produced, 7,990 of which were Roadsters.
The right-hand drive Series 3 V12 Roadster on offer sports Red bodywork teamed with Black leather upholstery and a Black hood, and is equipped with the optional three-speed automatic transmission. The two-seater has apparently formed part of a private collection for the last two years, during which it has been kept "on the button", but used sparingly and only on dry days. The vendor currently views the engine and transmission as "very good" and the bodywork, paintwork and interior trim as "good". `BEG 928J' is currently displaying an unwarranted mileage of 47,835 and is MOT'd into September next year.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
