Lot details Registration No: OLO565E Chassis No: GHN3123242 Mot Expiry: June 2005
When the MGB replaced the MGA in September 1962, the main change was the use of a lower and wider steel monocoque bodyshell rather than having separate chassis and bodywork, and a larger 1798cc capacity engine instead of the 1622cc power unit fitted to the last of the line of the previous model.
This B, a right-hand drive roadster, was originally manufactured at the famous MG works at Abingdon in 1967. Current condition of open shell is said to be good with panels totally rust-free and both red paintwork and wire wheels good. Black leather trim is reportedly in outstanding order. Both 1.8-litre four and four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive as well as all electrical equipment are rated as being all good.
The vendor tells us that he has known this sportscar for the past ten years during which time no major work has been necessary. A stainless steel exhaust has been fitted and the radio converted to FM. The latest MOT certificate will be valid until June and the tax disc current until the end of May. Described by the entrant as being "very useable", OLO 565E is claimed to be ready to go.
