  • Arguably the handsomest Drophead Coupe design ever to grace a Roesch Talbot and supplied new via the Thornton Engineering Co Ltd of Bradford
  • Previously entrusted to John Foy Ltd, its well-preserved `Foursome' coachwork was stripped to bare metal and treated to various ash frame repairs before being repainted Dark Green
  • Offered for sale with period Talbot Instruction book, numerous restoration invoices / photographs plus assorted old MOTs
  • Fitted with back-up electric fuel pump, in line fuel filter and warning beeper for electric indicators

We are indebted to the Vendor for the following information:

This drophead coupe, bodied by Carlton, is a well-known Roesch Talbot which over the last 6 years has been on various UK and overseas tours. You get the best of all worlds, being able to enjoy ‘wind in the hair motoring’ when the sun shines or a snug cabin with wind-up windows if the rain is falling. You cannot do that in a tourer! Easy to drive with the Talbot traffic clutch and pre-selector box.

Registered in May 1934 as a 65 the car received a 75 power train transplant, including its traffic clutch, in the late 90’s under the auspices of marque specialist Ian Polson and club member David Thompson who took over the restoration and used the car extensively both in the UK and in Europe. David sold the car in 1999 with just over 40000 miles on the clock after which it changed hands a couple of times and I acquired the car in October 2014 with just under 50000 miles on the odometer. The car has since covered over 8500 miles and has been on two tours to France, as well as other club tours in the UK and was presented at the Concours of Elegance at Windsor Castle in September 2016. Recently returned from the successful club tour of Ireland. This car has not had to be trailered home.

Under my ownership the engine has been thoroughly overhauled by Ian Polson as well as the rear axle, ratio 4.3:1. The pre-selector-gearbox has had a total refurbishment by Tom Dark Engineering. Modifications include, downdraught Zenith carburettor, modern spin-on oil filter, the club voltage limiter, electronic rev-counter and radiator expansion bottle. The engine has been tuned by Stanton Motorsports to get the correct adjustment of the fuel jets. Annual servicing has been done by professionals.

Time now to think of a new adventure so if you are looking for a comfortable, versatile car which is good for gentle and reliable cruising this could be for you. The Owners Club is a great one for advice, spares and hospitality. The car is liveried in Connaught Green with a very good hood and the interior is well patinated. Big history file. Lots of invoices totalling tens of thousands, hood cover plus tonneau, bespoke tools and is fitted with a battery cut off switch. Engine started first time after winter dry storage in a well-ventilated garage. All rockers and tappets have been replaced with new castings supplied by the STD register. The cylinder head has been adjusted so it runs on unleaded. Old pistons and cam shaft etc supplied with the car.
