Lot details Registration No: XI 8810 Chassis No: 4334 Mot Expiry: Mar 2006
This pre-war Austin 20/6, originally built in 1931 at the Midland firm's Longbridge works, worked as a hearse in Northern Ireland until 1987 when it was converted to the current pick-up configuration. During this conversion work, the 3.4-litre six was re-bored, the radiator re-cored, the vehicle rewired and the brightwork re-chromed.
However, following its return to the mainland in 1988, it is said to have remained in storage until last years when some recommissioning was carried out by the engineer owner. Brakes, spring shackles and dynamo were overhauled and, as detailed in a £600 invoice on file, shock absorbers and links rebuilt.
The chassis condition is described as good with two-door bodywork painted in red over back very good. The artillery wheels are said to be good, tyres new and black rexine trim good too. The 3400cc capacity motor is reportedly in fair order, four-speed manual transmission good and electrical equipment very good.
The 79,514 mileage displayed when entered is believed to be the genuine total mileage from new. An MOT test has only just been freshly passed and the latest tax will be valid until February of next year.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
