The original Drixton Honda's were manufactured during by Marly Drixl during 1969, employing the robust CB450 engine, taken out to 462cc, housed in one of his Drixton frames. For 1970 the capacity was increased a full 500cc. The success of the machines has made them popular with contemporary classic racers resulting in the creation of replicas such as the example offered.
The machine was built by the vendor during 2008 for use in the Manx Grand Prix, but the death of his rider prevented the entry.
The engine features a R & D valve spring conversion in place of the standard torsion bar springs with Megacycle cams and race quality valves controlling the mixture. Arrow con rods with lightened Wiseco pistons running in nikasil plated aluminium liners are fitted and Dell'Orto carburettors control the fuel supply with a PVL ignition system supplying the sparks. An oil cooler and external oil lines are fitted. A six spring adjustable clutch transmits the power to a six speed Nova gearbox.
35mm Ceriani forks and Maxton rear suspension units are fitted with braking being provided by a front disc fitted with a Lockheed caliper and Honda master cylinder combined with a cable operated Honda drum rear brake. A Daytona style seat is fitted to the machine which is accompanied by a short circuit style unit.
