During October 1949 BSA announced the introduction of a new 650cc twin cylinder model, the A10. Although sharing a family resemblance with the existing A7 500cc twin, it featured a revised engine design with very little in common with the earlier 500cc which was quickly replaced by a new A7 derived from the A10. Both versions of the new twin were offered with a choice of rigid or plunger frames until 1954 and the introduction of a pivoted fork frame. The introduction of the new frame also brought about a change to the gearbox which had previously been attached to the rear of the crankcases, but which now became a separate item.
This early pivoted fork A7 is presented to a very high standard throughout having been well restored. Finished in maroon with chromium plated tank panels it has benefited from new tyres and chains recently and is described as running nicely following an overhaul at Minovation Racing. Currently on SORN it is offered with a Swansea V5C.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
