Arguably the two best known proponents of automatic transmission systems in the two wheeled world during the 1970's were Moto Guzzi and Honda, both of whom marketed machines fitted with two speed semi automatic systems during the decade. Honda had introduced a version of the CB750 fitted with the system in 1976 and had followed it with a variant of the 400cc Dream in 1977. Although the system found favour in urban use, it was not readily accepted by the majority of European motorcyclists who preferred the traditional manual system, however in the States, where automatic drive systems are more readily accepted; it gained a greater degree of acceptance.
The machine offered is a CM450A. The CM range was developed from the Superdream 250 and 400 twins, adopting the then fashionable "custom" styling characterised by the adoption of a "peanut" fuel tank, short megaphone silencers, high handlebars and a stepped saddle. The semi automatic transmission was arguably best suited to this style of machine which was biased towards comfort rather than performance. The machine is described as being in good condition in all respects having formed part of a private collection in Holland. It is offered with the necessary paperwork required to apply to DVLA for a registration number.
