In 1912, T.F. Watson invented the folding sidecar to enable access through the side passage of terraced houses. He established The Watsonian Folding Sidecar Co. the same year at Balsall Heath, Birmingham. Between 1914 and 1922 the company expanded the conventional rigid sidecars to include a Featherweight chassis for 3hp machines, a body constructed of wicker, a fabric over ash frame and aluminium. It moved to Hockley, Birmingham, in 1922 and four years later introduced the Kwikfit chassis with four wing nuts, which allowed the body to be easily removed. In 1930 the company name was changed to Watsonian Sidecar Co. Ltd and they once again moved to a new factory, this time in Greet, Birmingham.
The example offered today dates from the 1920s and was very popular with Tandem outfits, for holidays and touring. It has been part restored, with only the hood and side screens to complete and comes with a spare wheel.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
