Arguably the definitive British sporting twin, the Bonneville was originally introduced in 1959. Derived from the Tiger 110 it featured a twin carburettor cylinder head first used in production racing. Revised models were introduced annually, with the machine benefiting from a process of ongoing development throughout its production life which saw both major changes such as the introduction of unit construction (1963), new frame designs (1960 and 1963 being the most significant) and detail revisions occurring. This policy of continual development ensured that the Bonnie remained at the head of the field throughout the sixties. For 1964 the Bonneville benefited from new front forks fitted with external springs and the mudguards changed material, becoming steel items. The engine breathing was improved and the carburettors had a bigger choke size and were now handed.Differences existed between the US and UK market machines, the former being fitted higher handlebars and an alternative twist grip. The Bonneville was offered with an a gold over Alaskan white petrol tank complimented by white mudguards with a gold stripe for both the UK and US markets.
This example was imported from the United States during 2006 and is offered VAT and duty paid in the UK with a Swansea V5C. It is offered in restored condition and was last Mot'd until April 2011.
