BMW's first post war production twin cylinder motorcycle was the 496cc R51/2 introduced during 1950. This variant was replaced during 1954 by the R50 which introduced a pivoted fork rear frame combined with Earles forks at the front. Endowed with great stamina and a smooth ride the model, although expensive, found favour with discerning long distance riders and police forces throughout Europe.
This example was purchased new by its one recorded keeper whilst he was serving with the RAF in West Germany and subsequently ridden back to the UK by him. The original buff log book issued on its importation to the UK carries a concession under the "Customs and Excise Act, 1952" section 257 restricting the machines to the importers own use until the 25th July 1958! Presented in tidy original condition with a period handlebar fairing and tank cover, the machine has been in storage for a number of years and will require re-commissioning prior to use. It is offered with a Swansea V5 and the previously mentioned buff log book.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
