Lot details Registration No: FJY 935 Chassis No: 7248253 Mot Expiry: June 2006
Henry Ford's most famous car, the Model T was introduced 1 October 1908 and, 15 million later, was made until 26 May 1927. Ford's first European assembly plant was actually set up not in Cologne or Valencia, but in the North West at Trafford Park, where Detroit-made Model Ts in crates shipped in via the Manchester Ship Canal were assembled, their main UK factory not opening by the Thames at Dagenham until 1931.
According to the owner of this locally entered V8 Pilot, the right-hand drive saloon was built in Essex in 1950 - and, although he cannot guarantee the mileage, he believes that the 74,525 miles recorded when entered is the genuine total.
Today, overall mechanical and cosmetic condition is claimed to be good, with both 3622cc capacity eight-cylinder engine and three-speed manual gearbox reportedly working well. Indeed, we understand that the four-door has proved to be very reliable, having given good service as a weddings car. Only recently tested successfully, the latest MOT certificate will be valid until May of next year, whilst because of its age, of course FJY 935 qualifies for a duty-exempt tax disc.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
