Lot details Registration No: GGW 88 Chassis No: WHC29 Mot Expiry: None
Taken off test on 24th May 1939, chassis WHC29 was fitted with Sedanca de Ville coachwork by Hooper & Co of London. According to Bernard L. King's book `The Rolls-Royce 25/30hp and Wraith', the construction of body number B9118 to design number B11739 was undertaken at the premises of former rival Barker (which Hooper had acquired via a liquidation sale the previous year). Rumoured to have been a potential Earl's Court Motor Show exhibit until World War Two intervened, the Rolls-Royce was first road registered as `GGW 88' on 23rd June 1941. Sold to W. Smirk Esq. that same year, it appears to have passed through the hands of James Taylor Automobiles Ltd of Worthing Sussex before entering the current ownership several decades ago. Currently missing an exhaust but otherwise seemingly complete, this handsome Sedanca de Ville is DVLA registered and has the makings of a very worthwhile project.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
