When it was first produced by the British Motor Corporation in 1959, the Austin-Healey 3000 with 2912cc six-cylinder engine was an updated version of their previous 2.6-litre 100/6, which, in turn, replaced the earlier 2.6-litre four-cylinder 100 model. The 3000 became even more popular, though, on both sides of the Atlantic as an open-top British sportscar, which, particularly when fitted with the extra-gear overdrive, was a delight to drive, whether cruising or exploiting the full potential of a competition-proven ride and handling package. Whether on road, circuit or rally route, the unstressed Big Six would motor on and on and on, too, without complaint.
Offered here is a 1962-built Austin-Healey 3000, which has been repainted in correct for this model Old English White and has a red interior, which, though not installed at the moment, is reportedly present as is the radiator grille which is also off the car. However, according to the vendor, all items necessary to complete the project should be available. The car sits on wire wheels, has the desirable hardtop as well as the preferred overdrive feature. We are told that the 3-litre six, which has been rebuilt and is on the-button, apparently runs. An original driver's handbook is included.
This lot represents a rare opportunity to acquire a righthand drive Healey 3000 for what could just be a most reasonable investment as the project is being auctioned here today entirely without reserve.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is being sold as a non runner.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
