  • Presented in Marine Blue Metallic with matching leather interior
  • Specification including cruise control, electric seats with lumbar support, sunroof and more
  • Extensive history file

Styled by American Tony Lapine, Porsche's front-engined, water-cooled, V8-powered 2+2 928 was launched at the 1977 Geneva Salon. Not only was it about as mechanically different to the ubiquitous 911 as it could possibly be, but represented the company's first foray into grand touring territory. Nevertheless, it received a rapturous reception from the press and was duly awarded the 1978 Car of the Year Award. Debuting in 1986 for the 1987 model year, the S4 variant featured an updated version of the 5.0-litre V8 producing some 316hp and a larger torque converter on automatic transmission examples along with numerous styling updates to give the car a sleeker appearance. Production of the S4 ended in 1991 along with the GT model to make way for the 5.4-litre GTS which would last until 1995.

A first year production example finished in the attractive combination of Marine Blue Metallic with matching Marine Blue leather interior, this particular example benefits from a specification including cruise control, electric seats with optional lumbar support, rear speaker, sunroof and more. ‘S960 GCD’ was first registered on 6th March 1987. Its first owner, a Porsche Managing Director owned the car for four months until it passed to a Michael Orchard. Orchard would own the car for 8 years until 1995, before it was passed to a Chris Hebbard. Hebbard’s ownership would span 4 years until it was purchased by the most recent keeper in 1999. From 2009 to 2013, the car was reportedly in storage, but was recommissioned and put back on the road. With regular maintenance since, worth noting is that the car was sent to 928 Specialists in 2018. Works included the cambelt and water pump replaced, along with the tensioner roller, HT leads, distributor caps and rotors, the brakes bled, track rod end replaced, left-hand driveshaft gaiter and more at a cost of £1960.

Now showing 117,683 miles on the odometer and with an MOT valid until 21st November 2024, included with the vehicle is an impressive history file. Within it is the original book pack containing the Porsche Driver’s manual, Porsche Service directory, various radio booklets, original Porsche alarm and immobiliser cards and the Guarantee and Maintenance booklet which contains 17 stamps, with the most recent at 95,310 miles. A significant collection of previous invoices dating back to 1991 are present, along with MOT certificates dating back to 1987, some historical photographs of the car, various Porsche related literature, various communications including from Porsche, previous registration documents and more. The current V5C is included which displays 3 former keepers.
