Introduced in 1962, the MGB Roadster enjoyed an eighteen-year production run. With nicely balanced handling and a good turn of speed, it merited the old MG marketing slogan 'Safety Fast'. Based around a monocoque chassis featuring independent coil-sprung front suspension and a leaf-sprung 'live' rear axle, its 1798cc 'B' series four-cylinder engine was allied to a four-speed manual transmission. Capable of over 100mph, the provision of front disc brakes and rack-and-pinion steering greatly aided control.
This MG B Roadster was manufactured in 1973 being built between the 7th-11th of September 1973 and despatched on the 25th of September to dealership Hattons Limited, BMC dealership of Southport. Fitted with the 1798cc straight-four engine mated to the four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, the MG is still finished in its original colour scheme of Blaze with Black interior upholstery and hood, with a Walnut dashboard and centre console. Further supplied with a black tonneau cover (although this is not pictured). ‘TTE 745M’ has a recorded mileage of 13,710 miles (at time of consignment), which is understood and supported by the history to be a genuine mileage of 113,710 miles from new. Showing seven former keepers on HPI, the MG B entering into current ownership since 2019.
Restored in the early 1990s and provided with much work since, the most notable being a new fan belt, choke cable, rev counter and sender unit, along with timing and points fettling in 2019, before the MG was the beneficiary of c.£3,200 worth of expenditure in May 2021. These works comprised new seats trimmed in black leather, heater box and matrix, shock absorbers, heater fan, other additional parts, servicing and tuning. ‘TTE 745M’ is offered with an extensive history file (equating to two ring binders of documentation) which comprises the approximately 40 past MOT certificates dating back to 1979; a vast selection of invoices documenting regular work and expenditure on the car relating to new parts and servicing (presented in the file annually and dating back to 1978); numerous past tax discs; photographs of the work completed and condition of the car completed at various points; much sundry paperwork; Heritage Certificate and current V5C.
