Lot details

Registration No: MYT 604
Chassis No: 24726
MOT: April 2022

  • Fine example of this stylish and underrated Alvis
  • Older restoration and still in very good order.
  • History file with original handbook, RF60 log book, with ownership history back to 1957, maintenance invoices etc
  • Recently serviced and running and driving very well
  • Fresh ‘no advisories’ MoT

Launched at the 1950 Geneva Salon, the TA21 could be had in four-door Saloon or two-door Drophead Coupe guises. The first Alvis to feature hydraulic brakes, it was powered by a new 3 Litre OHV straight-six engine allied to four-speed manual transmission. Notably stylish, the four-seater Drophead Coupe variant was coachbuilt by Tickford and featured a well-engineered three position hood.

First registered in London on August 6th 1952 (or so its ‘MYT 604’ number plate would imply), this rare Tickford-bodied Drophead Coupe is understood to have covered a mere 12,000 miles or so since being treated to an extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration during the 1980s. Accompanying paperwork includes invoices dating back to 1957 and a continuation buff logbook from 1963 not to mention an owner’s handbook, parts book, period copy road tests and fifteen old MOTs etc . Entrusted to Cricketfield Engineering of Southend-on-Sea for a new cylinder head gasket and replacement radiator core in 2002, the Alvis was taken off the road two years later. Recently recommissioned and serviced after almost two decades of dry storage, the TA21 is considered by the seller to ‘perform and drive as it should’.
