The ultimate non-GT derivative of Porsche’s ground breaking 996-series of 911, the Carrera 4S (often shortened by enthusiasts to C4S) was introduced in 2002. Utilising the same widened bodyshell, brakes and suspension as its Turbo sibling, the newcomer also benefited from the enlarged 3.6 litre engine common to most 996-series Generation II models. Rated at 320bhp / 273lbft, the DOHC flat-six was allied to either six-speed manual or five-speed Tiptronic transmission. Able to sprint from 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds and onto 174mph, the manual gearbox cars proved faster and more involving driving but were not so adept in city traffic. Offering better grip and roadholding than the narrow-bodied Carreras and more refinement than the track-focused GT3 and GT2 variants, the Carrera 4S was deemed by many to be the ‘sweet spot’ in the 996 range. Only in production until 2005, just 17,298 C4S Coupes and 5,757 C4S Cabriolets were sold worldwide.

This Carrera 4S Cabriolet was manufactured in 2004, being first UK registered in May that year. Fitted with the 3.6-litre six-cylinder engine with the desirable six-speed manual gearbox and featuring the Turbo style wide-arch body. Finished in silver with black leather interior upholstery, the 911 benefits from having the hard-top and hard-top stand. Specified from new with sports exhaust system and stainless-steel exhaust tailpipes; electric sports seats with Porsche embossed headrests; aluminium inlay gear-knob and handbrake lever; xenon headlights; park assist and Porsche Communication Management (PCM).

Having covered 99,724 miles from new at the time of consignment, the Porsche has had only four total owners. ‘PC04 CHE’ is offered with bookpack which comprises driver’s manual; service guide; model range book; roadside assist guide; PCM CD and service book. The service book shows eleven service stamps, ten of which are from Porsche dealership and specialists, and five brake fluid change records. Benefitting from new radiators, starter motor, coil pack, battery, drive belt and alternator in the past two years, the 911 was further subject to new front and rear brake discs and pads; as well as a new brake sensor in 2017.
